Each month, the College of Fine Arts highlights the achievements of its distinguished alumni.
Reggie Hayes
Reggie Hayes '91 stars as William Dent in the comedy series Girlfriends , which has just completed its fourth season. Previously a series regular on Getting Personal and Grown Ups, he has appeared in guest roles on series that include Will & Grace, Party of Five, Pretender, and Roswell. His feature film credits include Being John Malkovich, A Family Thing, and Hell Cab. His training is rooted in theater. Hayes acted in the Illinois Shakespeare Festival for three seasons. His performances in stage productions include Bang the Drum Slowly, Less than Equal, and Chicago Conspiracy Trial.
Reggie is the recipient of the 2004 Illinois State University Outstanding Young Alumi Award. This award is presented to alumni of Illinois State University who are 35 years of age or younger on January 1 of the year the award is presented. The award recognizes significant accomplishment and leadership in one's chosen field or in civic, cultural, or charitable activities.
Eric Rohmann
Eric Rohmann '80, M.S. '85 is an award-winning painter, printmaker, and fine bookmaker. His book My Friend Rabbit received the 2003 Randolph Caldecott Medal, which is the most prestigious award for the illustration of works in children's literature in the United States. My Friend Rabbit also was honored as an American Library Association Notable Book and a New York Times Best Book for Young Readers. In 1995 Rohmann received a Caldecott Honor for his wordless picture book Time Flies. He also is the author-illustrator of The Cinder Eyed Cats and Pumpkinhead, and is completing his fifth book. Rohmann delivered the Lois Lenski Lecture on children's literature at Illinois State University in 2002.
Eric is the recipient of the 2004 Illinois State University Alumni Achievement Award. This award is presented to alumni whose achievements in their field or avocation have received favorable statewide, national, or international recognition; who have received honors from associations or employers; or whose work has proven beneficial to a pronounced segment of society.
