Winter - Spring
07
Lately I have been
jamming to get ready for a solo exhibition at the Harvey/Meadows
Gallery in Aspen Colorado. I am looking forward to the
road trip to instal. The show opens March 3rd and will coincide
with a solo show by Andrea Gill. Also, in the coming
weeks i will have work at The
Dairy Barn in Athens, Ohio. The
group show, titled Contemporary Ceramics, was curated by Brad
Schweiger, an artist and educator who teaches at Ohio University.
Finally
i will have a piece titled "Thicket" in NCECA's 2007
Clay National Biennial exhibition at the Kentucky
Museum of Art and Craft. This exhibition takes place,
during odd years, at the
annual
conference of the National Council
on Education for the Ceramic Arts.

Carreño Gallery in Chicago. The opening coincided
with this year’s SOFA Chicago and runs until December

exhibitions at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s
Artspace as well as The Clay Studio in Philadelphia. Finally
I have an
exhibition of my work that opens here in Bloomington’s
McLean County Art Center in December.

Urbana Illinois. Currently i have a piece at Santa
Fe Clay in a group show called Nature/Culture.

Carreno Gallery so please stop by the

late summer 05
What a crazy summer!
I’ve
had work in five shows since May. The first exhibition was
at the Cervini Hass Gallery/Galler
Materia in Scottsdale Arizona. This was a three person show
called Ceramics Invitational with artists Carole Ross and John
Pagliaro.
Also in May I installed a solo show at the Dubhe
Carreno Gallery titled “Tendrils and Shoots”. The gallery focuses
its efforts on ceramic art. The gallery has been featured at
SOFA Chicago for the past few years and just opened a space
in the Pilsen gallery district last fall.
Erin Furimsky and I had a two person exhibition in June at
the Charlie Cummings Gallery. Charlie has a nice gallery space
and operates a community style ceramics studio in Fort Wayne,
Indiana.
I have an installation of sculpture up currently at The
Lill Street Arts Center in Chicago Illinois. Since I had two exhibitions
back to back in Chicago this summer I wanted to do something
a bit different. I had some ideas for some larger scale sculptures
one of which used left over parts from the process of making
the “object” oriented work. It was great to get
back to exploring ways of working that I haven’t done
since grad school. Check out the work.
Right now I also have a few pieces in the first exhibition
of the new Harvey/Meadows
Gallery in Aspen, Colorado. The gallery
was just started by my friends and former fellow Alfred grad
schoolers Alleghany Meadows and Sam Harvey.
Now school starts again. So much for summer vacation!
