Assignments and Grading Policies

Homework Assignments:

There will be 6-7 homework assignments, which will be graded on a scale of 0-5. Independent and critical thinking, along with problem solving, is critical.

5 - Perfect. All points covered correctly with extra effort and initiative. Went above and beyond what was expected.

4 - Excellent. The assignment was completely correct and thorough.

3 - Average. Missed a few points, but got the main idea.

2 - Below Average. Need a lot of work in this area.

1 - Poor. Turned something in that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike the assignment.

0 - Decided not to do this assignment, huh?

Since we will discuss completed assignments in class, assignments turned in late will lose 2 points.

Readings and assignments are available on the web site. Go to http://www.cfa.ilstu.edu/pguithe/THE345/ or follow the links from my bio on the College of Fine Arts website.

Attendance: Subtract one point for each class missed.

Research: This includes extra activities such as tracking down information and materials. Some of these items can be tracked down as a group. At a minimum:

¥ Get a copy of the U/RTA Equity Contract (the one used by the Shakespeare Festival), and one other of your choice.

¥    Read business section of newspaper regularly and bring an article or two during the semester related to non-profit business trends, commentary or news.

This will be graded the same way as one assignment (ie. worth up to 5 points).

Final Exam: The Final Exam is optional. If you've been turning in your assignments and doing the work, but just haven't understood it well enough to get good grades, you may request a final exam to show that you have learned the material. (I may also request it for you!) The final is worth up to 10 points.

Timetable:

The timing of the assignment due dates will be based, in part, on the ability of the class to progress. However, all material and work must be done by the last day of classes.
