| Richard Finch, Professor of Art, received his Master
of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Southern Illinois University
Edwardsville. He joined the Illinois State faculty in 1977.
Finch is Director of Normal Editions Workshop, a professional contract
and publishing print workshop in the Center for the Visual Arts which provides
students with opportunities to expand their skills in printmaking through
collaborative projects with visiting artists and the production of limited-edition
prints.
Finch is co-author (along with James D. Butler) of Lithography and Monotype: A Manual of Simplified Techniques for Student Use. His information is also included in publications such as 2000 Outstanding Artists and Designers of the 20th Century and 60 national and international exhibitions and at close to 150 national and international juried exhibitions. He has had numerous solo exhibitions of his works as well as participated in permanent collection exhibitions throughout the United States. Finch has been a visiting faculty member in drawing at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, three times and led symposia and workshops in many states, including South Dakota, massachusetts New York, Iowa, and Illinois. He has received grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and Illinois Arts Council. |
