Music Business
A successful classical music audition is required to enter the music business major.
Today it is becoming ever more possible to pursue a career in the creative arts. Many individuals seek paths which allow them to turn their passion for music into fulfilling administrative, creative, or technical careers in the music industry.
It is an exciting time to be studying music business. With the advent of affordable recording techniques, mp3 file-sharing, digital sampling, MySpace, Facebook, podcasts, and blogs; the music industry is being reborn all around us!
At Illinois State University, we are proud to offer the Bachelor of Science in Music Business degree. The sequence is intended for those who wish to pursue a career in business professions related to music. In addition to the core music requirements, students need to complete 25 hours of coursework in the School of Music and the nationally-recognized College of Business. This degree enables students to develop their musical skills while preparing them to become leaders, thinkers, and creators in the new music industry.
Recent graduates are employed by major instrument manufacturers, record labels, and concert halls.
The Bachelor of Science degree in music provides an alternative to the professional degree-the Bachelor of Music. The General Education requirement is similar to that specified for all other liberal arts programs. Check-out the plan of study to see the specific course requirements.
