Ensembles are open to everyone by audition, regardless of your major or your year in school.

Ensembles are classes for which you must register, pay tuition, and earn a grade.

Ensembles are worth one credit hour each.
Instrumental ensembles at Illinois State include the Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, and a variety of concert and athletic bands, ranging from the Wind Symphony to the Big Red Marching Machine.
Vocalists performing ensembles include the Concert Choir, Madrigal Singers, University Women’s Choir, Men’s Glee Club, Civic Chorale, and Belle Voix (Women’s Chamber Choir). Additionally, a chamber opera plus an opera/musical theatre production are produced each year
Jazz Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, West African Drumming and Dance Ensemble, and various chamber groups exist for specialty ensemble experiences.
