Auditions are required for all masters candidates. Below you will find the information you need to schedule and prepare for a graduate audition. Please direct any questions to: Dr. Angelo Favis, Graduate Coordinator.

I. Performance Audition

The performance audition is designed to give the candidate an opportunity to demonstrate the ability to pursue graduate-level music instruction. This audition is administered by faculty members in the candidate's performing area. Candidates should be prepared to perform several solos representative of differing musical styles.

Students are strongly encouraged to audition in person and to spend a day on campus visiting ensembles, classes and campus offices. Graduate auditions may be scheduled on the Undergraduate Audition Dates or at another time. Auditions on CD, DVD, and video tape are acceptable for admission. Please contact the major professor in your area for scheduling and other questions.

Pianists and vocalists are expected to perform from memory, but others need not memorize their music. Accompanists are provided for regularly scheduled Saturday voice auditions on campus, but rehearsal time prior to the audition cannot be assured. Instrumentalists are not expected to perform with accompaniment.

II. Sight Reading

The student should be prepared to sight read a variety of musical examples.
