Admissions and Auditions
All prospective music majors and minors must perform a classical music audition for entrance consideration. Auditions occur six to nine months in advance of the semester you wish to enter. Students should have significant classical training on a primary instrument or voice prior to auditioning.
Undergraduate Music Major and Minor Admissions
To schedule an audition, please complete the following procedures.
- Submit University Admission Application
- Submit School of Music Audition Application
- Submit School of Music Recommendation Form
- An optional piano placement exam is available to all students who have had previous piano lessons. The placement determines the level of piano instruction you will begin at when you enter the School of Music. All students who major in music must complete varying levels of piano proficiency. The piano placement exam requires you to sight read and play scales. The placement is not used in admission decisions to the School. It is merely used for placement purposes.
