Curated by Barry Blinderman and Bill Conger

While Baby Boomers review their pension plans and incidents such as Columbine create international shockwaves, artists are examining the contradictory and perverse reverberations of childhood and adolescence with renewed fervor. Growing Up (post)MODERNgets its name from Paul Goodman's "Growing Up Absurd," a landmark study of the conditions of adolescence and early adulthood during the 1950s. Fourteen artists were represented in this exhibition, which was presented in conjunction with Border Subjects 4, an interdisciplinary, international, two-day conference dealing with issues of race and class in youth culture and literature.

Artists: Donald Baechler, Mike Cockrill, Francesca Fuchs, Jack Hallberg, George Horner, Larry Mantello, Paula McCarty, Karl Rademacher, James Rielly, Christian Schumann, Michael Scott, Kathryn Spence, and Thomas Wrede
