College of Fine Arts Special Events
Something incredible is happening almost every day of the year
at the College of Fine Arts. In addition to art exhibits in
the University Galleries,
plus music, theatre and dance performances in the Center
for the Performing Arts, and professional summer
theatre at the Illinois Shakespeare
Festival, the College of
Fine Arts is constantly hosting entertaining and educational
special events.
The Madrigal Dinners have been an annual
tradition for the College of Fine Arts since 1956. A perfect evening
of beautiful music, moving storytelling, fellowship with friends
and family, and delicious food and drink.
Each Spring, the College hosts a Fine Arts Festival in conjunction
with student arts groups and the Illinois State University student
fee board, featuring a wide range of creative talent.
Illinois State University and the College of Fine Arts is a great
place for student festivals. Each year, the university hosts
the amazing Bands of America. The School of Music also hosts
a Madrigal
Festival, Jazz
Festival, and Choral
Arts Festival.
In January of even-numbered years,
the university hosts the annual Illinois High School Theatre
Festival, and in January, 2006 the School of Theatre will host
the American College Theatre Festival.
College of Fine Arts commencement ceremonies are very special events,
and everyone is invited at no charge.
Each year, the College of Fine Arts hosts two week-long theatre
trips to New York City - one for students and one for the community.
