College of Fine Arts Dean's Travel Grant Program

The College of Fine Arts provides grants to faculty members up to $500 annually. The travel must be for professional purposes and occur between July 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009.

All applicants must submit the travel grant request form directly to John Walker in the College office by Friday, August 22, 2008. Faculty will be notified of their award by Wednesday, August 27. All funds will be allocated at this time. Any actual professional travel that occurs from July 1, 2008 to August 29, 2009 and any anticipated travel after August 29 is eligible for reimbursement.

Priority will be given to faculty members who present at conferences. International conferences will have a higher priority over national conferences which shall have priority over regional conferences. Relevance of the travel to the faculty member's research and teaching, and the overall benefit of the travel to the College of Fine Arts will be taken into consideration when making final decisions.

Reimbursable travel costs include air and ground transportation, conference fees, and lodging. Meals are paid on a per diem basis at the rate of $28 for in-state and $32 for out-of-state travel. Automobile mileage is paid at the rate of 48.5 cents per mile.

Please retain all receipts. If you receive a travel grant, receipts (with the exception of meals) for travel costs must be submitted with a completed official university travel voucher to receive reimbursement. Money for travel can be disbursed only after the travel has occurred. Once the grant has been approved, flights can be booked through Suzi Davis Travel and billed directly to the University.

Please contact John Walker (8-8323) or Kathryn Anderson (8-8322) if you have questions.
