Projects/Assignments

• Review of various piano method series (extended project, first half of semester)
• MIDI recording projects (2 - disk recordings and presentations)
• Observation of piano lessons (8 written forms)
• Research on assigned pedagogical topic (paper and 15-minute presentation )
• Presentation of piano method (1 - 25-minute presentation) #
• What's on the internet? (worksheet plus additional printouts)
• Teaching experiences (weekly teaching, second half of the semester)
• Your own studio policies (1-page studio policy)
• Composition/notation of pedagogical materials (hand-notated and computer-notated music compositions)
• Selection of intermediate repertoire (paper and 15-minute presentation)

Attendance

Attendance at all class meetings is expected.

Grading

All assignments will be graded based on completeness and accuracy, with extra credit awarded for exceptional originality and/or worth. For assignments with written or disk results and class presentation, multiple grades will be given. Class participation is an essential component of this class, and will be factored into the final grade.
