As a growing field, Arts Technology has seen many innovative students over the years.Prior to the Fall of 2000, many students pursued a degree with a concentration in Arts Technology, or earned an independent major with a course of study similar to what became the Program in Arts Technology in the Fall of 2000. These students found under the umbrella of the Office of Research in Arts Technology the challenging and integrated coursework that fit their visions of how they wanted to grow as artists. Take Mark Nowakowski, for instance. His coursework was equally split between AT courses and Music courses. He continued studying sax and composition, as he also worked on developing his web design skills. Mark is now pursuing a graduate degree in composition with an assistantship in music technology.
Our students have found rewarding careers in web design, in the development of instructional media, and in advertising. We hope to soon see other graduates working with digital audio and in technical theatre, as well as continuing to do innovative installation and performance work. In many ways, a degree in Arts Technology simply prepares you to learn more; in the fast-changing environment of digital media, perhaps the best thing we can teach is an ability to adapt to the tools at hand. If you are one of our alums, we would love to know how Arts Technology fits into your current vocations or avocations! In the future, we hope to provide a space here for our alums to find out a bit about each other. |
