Admissions & Portfolio Submission Guidelines and Deadlines

All students must also undergo a portfolio review and/or interview with the Arts Technology Admissions Committee before being admitted into the program.

The Committee will evaluate admission requests from new freshman, transfer students, or students undergoing a change of major at Illinois State University. Applications are reviewed February 1 for the following fall's admission and October 1 for spring.

Transfer and Current Illinois State University Students

Transfer and change of major students must meet the same course and portfolio review requirements, complete the fine arts and arts technology core requirements, and have an overall GPA of 2.5 or better before being admitted to the program.

Admission to the University

Students must first be admitted to Illinois State University before being admitted to the Program in Arts Technology. The Office of Admissions Web site provides the guidelines and projected application deadlines for incoming freshmen, transfer students, graduate students, and international students.

Priority consideration for admission will be given to outstanding students whose applications are complete and postmarked during the priority filing period for the term for which they are applying. Applications postmarked during the priority filing period may have an advantage when space is limited. If you're ready, Apply Online Now!

Portfolio Submissions

We review portfolios in making our admissions decisions for both undergraduates and graduate students. Students with a background in music who wish to continue study of an instrument must also contact the School of Music for an audition. Because our students come from varied backgrounds, we accept a wide variety of materials as part of the portfolio. If you have questions about the portfolio, please contact us.

Campus Visits

We encourage all undergraduate students to make an on-campus visit. Visit the Office of Admissions Web site to make your reservation for an open house or campus information session.
